A Word From
Michael Durham about Living Priorities:
Living Priorities began as a 15-minute daily broadcast on a local radio
station, WVHM 90.5 FM in Hardin, Ky. in October 1995.
It became the increasing burden of several individuals at Oak Grove Baptist Church that
the instruction in God s Word they were receiving ought to be shared with others in the
region. And so Living Priorities was born. The goal of the ministry
was then and still is today to drive truth into
church and culture. Jesus taught that the church was the salt that preserved society and
the light to show God's truth to culture. Yet, as far as America is concerned, our nation
is on a continual downslide into moral degradation and ruin. Despite the overabundance of
churches that populate this country we are still experiencing a disintegration of the
fabric and foundation of society. Why, if churches are the preservative of a people and
their culture? Why, if churches is to be a light to show the way to a people in
darkness? Obviously the answer is that churches for the most part have somehow lost
power and light. Truth is considered dead weight to a culture that
is not interested in it. So truth has been thrown overboard at the
expense of a lighter, more feel good approach to Christianity.
But the first century was not so much different. The Greek
influenced culture was captivated by rhetoric and philosophy. The
plain and unvarnished truth of the apostles was not sophisticated
for the cultured and intellectual hearer. Yet, the apostles never
departed from its proclamation. And neither should we. You can not
dress up the truth of the gospel in order to make it more appealing
without changing the truth. If you make it more appetizing, you have
made it less nourishing. If you make it more sophisticated, you make
it less spiritual. And if you make it less offensive, you make it
less powerful. The gospel was, is and always will be a "stumbling
block to the Jew and foolishness to the Greek . . . but unto us
which are saved it is the power of God."
Living Priorities Ministries is
committed to propagating the truth about Christ and to do so through
the power of the Holy Spirit. We no longer have the daily broadcast
but we continue to proclaim through the internet and publishing.
Inside this website you will find articles giving biblical priorities for everyday living.
You will also find teaching that was once considered the norm of Christianity but has been
sadly rejected as irrelevant to modern society. We hope you find this site not only
attractive but helpful in your walk of grace.
For the Glory of His Name,
S. Michael Durham
